Partnering Health Limited has an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory Nurse to join and help develop a Spirometry service within Primary Care. We are proud to be partnering the NHS to ensure that patients receive a timely respiratory diagnosis. We are looking for an experienced respiratory nurse, with the relevant training and experience, dedicated to patient care, who works well in a team and is also able to work on their own initiative.
The post holder will work as part of a team delivering specialist spirometry services across in venues and GP practices South-East Hampshire. The successful candidates will have a choice of shifts across the week.
About the role:
You will be responsible for the provision of safe and effective specialist nurse-led spirometry clinics delivered across South-East Hampshire. The post holder will take a pro-active approach to their own CPD, contribute to continually improving the clinical effectiveness of the clinics and work collaboratively and supportively with all colleagues. Our team of clinicians will provide weekday appointments to local patients referred by their own GP surgery.
Key Responsibilities and Clinical Duties:
- Work as part of the clinical and operational team to deliver high standards of patient centre care
- Chronic disease management, specifically respiratory. Promote smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, flu and pneumonia vaccination, check and assess inhaler adherence and technique for example
- ARTP spirometry trained or a willingness to complete the training
Competent and capable to provide spirometry to primary care patients - Screening. Undertake opportunistic screening including BP, height, weight, BMI, smoking status and alcohol intake
- Health Promotion. Offer education and motivation for patients to change unhealthy behaviour. Recognise a patient’s readiness to change. Develop and maintain health promotion material. Complete referrals to stop smoking service
- Administration and paperwork. Arising directly from this caseload (record-keeping, other written communications with local GP surgeries as required) and ensuring all appropriate templates and coding is completed for QOF, LCS, DES.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience of working in primary care
- At least 2 years post qualification experience
- Competence in providing spirometry services in a primary care environment
- Registered with the NMC
- Able to evidence ARTP spirometry training or willingness to undertake it
- Be able to clear an enhanced DBS check
- Level 3 safeguarding of adults and children
