PHL are an established and expanding healthcare organisation responsible for providing a variety of urgent and primary health care services across Hampshire. As part of the Out of Hours GP service we have a fleet of response cars, for providing healthcare in people’s homes.
As an integral team member, you will be accountable for the OOHs vehicle during their shift, ensuring clinicians are safely delivered to patients place of residence while effectively meeting KPI’s. Drivers must ensure that the vehicle is fully equipped and stocked at the beginning of each shift, reporting any issues to the Dispatcher/Team Leader immediately. The Driver will have occasional face to face patient contact, as may be required to act as a chaperone for patients/clinicians, treating every patient with respect and providing confidence in our ability to deliver a great and caring service.

Drivers Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all home visits are carried out immediately and efficiently using the quickest and safest routes available, whilst adhering to all speed limits and other restrictions.
The dispatch team will manage the jobs the Driver/clinician will be responsible for completing - To ensure that any pre-shift car inspections, both external and internal, are carried out to check for any damage and lack of cleanliness. You will also be responsible for the parking area, driver’s cupboard and any other surrounding areas ensuring all are kept tidy. If anything is observed, then observations to be recorded.
- Ensure Medical Equipment, Drug boxes and hand-held Equipment are in the car at start of shift & returned to designated storage at end of shift
- Ensure that the car computer is set up, fully charged and ready for the clinician to log into when they arrive on shift and the car has stock of all necessary paperwork/ envelopes etc.
- Handover the car and its contents in a condition in which you would wish to receive it, having accurately logged any issues on the driver log and placed all equipment and drug boxes neatly and securely back into on-site storage areas. All electrical equipment must be placed back on charge.
- In the event of a cancellation of a shift by a clinician, Drivers will be expected to participate in other duties, which may be at a different scheduled time
- Must have a Full Clean Driving Licence
- Good communication skills. Drivers will need to liaise effectively with clinicians, drivers, coordinators, patients, and management team.
- Candidates must have a good knowledge of IT systems and how to use everyday technology
