Title

Deputy Clinical Manager

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and competent Deputy Clinical Manager (DCM) to become part of our friendly team at the Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in the New Forest, Hampshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced clinician to assist the Clinical Manager in leading and supporting the clinical team in delivering a consistent high standard of patient care within the department.

Lymington UTC sees approximately 26,000 attendances per year and this demand has increased since the COVID pandemic. Our clinical team comprises of nurse practitioners, specialist paramedics, doctor/GPs, as well as healthcare support workers. The service sees patients from all ages, and we are fortunate to have excellent facilities and an ability to manage a range of different patient presentations. The UTC, and the PHL Organisation as a whole, recently achieved a ‘Good’ from our CQC inspection and we are immensely proud of the service we provide.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant should be a registered nurse or paramedic with an excellent level of experience and knowledge of minor illness or injury presentations, from either an urgent care, emergency department, or primary care background. The applicant should also be an independent prescriber and have a good skill set that can contribute to the clinical expertise in the department. The role will involve working closely with the UTC Clinical Manager to progress the department in developing clinical pathways, teaching sessions, managing audits, and presenting at governance meetings. As the department continues to recruit developmental roles for paramedics and nurses, the DCM will also involve being responsible for leading in the training and mentoring of newer staff as well as assisting with planning shift rotas. The role will also involve working regular clinical hours in the treatment room to not only support the team but leading by example. There is an expectation this will also involve working some weekends, bank holidays, and supporting the team during busy periods while on management shifts. The successful applicant should have a high degree of ability to work well as part of team, but also autonomously to complete the workload set out by the Clinical Manager.
