Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and competent clinician to become part of our friendly team at the Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in the New Forest, Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to progress and achieve the level of nurse practitioner/specialist paramedic prescriber and become a competent and autonomous practitioner, particularly within the field of minor injury and minor illness.

Lymington UTC sees approximately 20,000 attendances per year and this demand has increased since the COVID pandemic. Our clinical team comprises of nurse practitioners, specialist paramedics, doctor/GPs, as well as healthcare support workers. The service sees patients from all ages, and we are fortunate to have excellent facilities and an ability to manage a range of different patient presentations. The UTC, and the PHL Organisation as a whole, has recently achieved a ‘Good’ from our CQC inspection and we are immensely proud of the service we provide.

The successful applicant should already be a registered nurse of paramedic with good experience of acute illness and/or injury presentations. The successful applicant will need a high degree of enthusiasm and drive to develop as a clinician and work with the team to gain the necessary knowledge and experience to achieve the level to be a competent and autonomous practitioner. This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week and an expectation of working a range of shifts throughout the month including evening, weekends, bank-holidays. As a development post it will involve a period of learning and experience within the department to sign off on competencies, attending relevant short training courses, and the department would support/fund the applicant through the necessary level 7 Southampton University modules to achieve the level of ‘Clinical Practitioner Prescriber’.

Skills and experience

 

  • Registered nurse or paramedic with NMC or HCPC registration
  • At least four years of working full-time within an acute healthcare setting such as emergency department, primary care, or pre-hospital
  • No sanctions stated within your current practice
  • A demonstrable and good standard of continued professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical practitioner role.
    Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written, verbal (particularly listening skills
  • Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Be able to clear an enhanced DBS check/Must be authorised to work in the UK


Desirable

  • Completion of MSc level 7 module/s
  • Experience of triage
  • ILS/PILS or ALS qualification
  • Level 3 safeguarding of adults and children
  • Experience of lab result interpretation
