Job description

PHL has an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join the team based in Whiteley. You will join us on a full time or part time, permanent basis and you will receive a highly competitive salary.

About the General Practitioner role:

PHL is looking to recruit a team of GPs to form the core of its Out-of-Hours Service. The service currently runs weekday evenings from 18.30 to 08.00 next morning, covering weekends and bank holidays, providing services to a population of 1.5 million.

As a senior member of the clinical team, you will be responsible for leading by example, ensuring best practice is adopted in all areas of the service, providing the best experience possible for the patient. To provide definitive clinical assessments and advice/guidance to non-medical colleagues within your scope of professional practice.

You will conduct the role of ambulance and emergency department disposition validation, making decisions rapidly, yet comprehensively and you must have hands on experience of IUC (including telephone clinical assessment and face to face clinical assessment/treatment).

Skills and experience

 

  • Provide appropriate medical leadership
  • Provide appropriate care and services to patients in all age ranges and level of health care needs
  • Maintain clinical records either written or computer based in line with professional code and requirements utilising appropriate READ coding and other coding systems
  • Liaise with all relevant agencies and services to promote knowledge and awareness of the Service
  • Provide appropriate health education and advice to patients and carers to enable self-management and choice
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead and the entire team to ensure that effective clinical governance is incorporated in the day-to-day practice in the Medical Service
  • Develop and maintain high levels of communication with patients and carers ensuring effective care delivery
  • An experienced doctor with GP accreditation
  • Current registration with GMC and NHS performers list (with no conditions preventing working or restrictions on practice)
  • Experience if working in urgent care environment such as A&E, Walk in centres
  • Record of on-going CPD and learning
  • MRCGP examination or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of clinical governance
  • Evidence of ability to maintain and monitor high standards of care
  • Evidence of ability to direct and co-ordinate programmes of care working autonomously and collaboratively
