Job description

PHL are an established and expanding healthcare organisation responsible for providing a variety of urgent and primary health care services across Hampshire.

An ideal opportunity for a Clinical Manager for Virtual Services covering Virtual wards, Covid @home and Youla services at PHL your role is very important in providing dedicated clinical management and leadership of the clinical team for the delivery of a safe, efficient, reliable and a high-quality clinical service.

As a Clinical Manager you will lead your clinical team as an experienced clinical leader your leadership style is always delivered with a caring and respectful disposition. You will work closely with the Service Manager, Service Clinical Lead and Governance Manager to ensure accountability and compliance with robust governance processes within PHL governance framework.

  • Provide advanced assessment and visible clinical leadership skills and support the Virtual Ward workforce, demonstrate high levels of care and compassion to support staff with supervision.
  • Attend regular meetings with Service Manager to support the delivery of the service, including engagement with both internal and external stakeholders and examples such as contract performance meetings
  • Liaise with and/or refer to other healthcare professionals (such as GP or Pharmacists) if required to support diagnosis or next course of action
  • Prescribe medication as required within your clinical competence.
    Assess undifferentiated patients with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions. Take a relevant and sequential history, make appropriate remote examinations, formulate differential diagnoses and develop and carry through management treatment plans
  • To work with the Clinical Lead and support implementation and delivery of key clinical governance processes within the services in line with PHL governance framework requirements, chairing the quality and governance meetings if required.

Skills and experience

  • 1 years experience of management and leadership
  • 3 years’ experience in an urgent or community care setting such as Integrated Urgent Care, Community Specialist services.
  • At least 6 years post qualification.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of urgent care presentations.
  • Experience of working autonomously in delivering primary/urgent care
  • Experience of working as a Clinical Leader in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience and knowledge of managing clinical governance
  • Registered with the NMC/HCPC
  • Teaching and mentorship qualification
  • Level 3 safeguarding of adults and children
  • Must be able to demonstrate and meet competencies of all mandatory training as required within the policies of the organisation
